Domaine Seguin-Manuel

Beaune - Côte d'Or, Burgundy

A local, artisanal winery, carefully crafting great wines from the Côte-d’Or in Burgundy.

Domaine Seguin-Manuel was founded in 1824, but it wasn’t until 10th generation (of family winegrowers) Thibaut Marion, from the famous Chanson family, purchased the winery in 2004 that major renovations took place. Initially located in Savigny-lès-Beaune, new vineyards have been added in Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault and Vosne-Romanée. Today, the domain totals just over 8ha producing 100,000 bottles annually. The conversion to organics was also started and was finally certified in 2015. Organic and chemical free growing is fundamental to the domain. Ploughing of the soil, strict pruning and green harvesting reduce yields, hand-harvesting into small crates and double sorting with natural temperature-controlled fermentation in vats and a renewed oak barrel program have all added to the rejuvenation of the property and increased quality of the wines. In 2024, to celebrate 200 years of the Domain and 20 years of his ownership, Thibaut invited is loyal customers to lunch at the historical Hospice de Beaune where an auction of some of his older vintages raised in excess of Euros 16,000. These are delightful wines that as Thibault says, ‘are a means to share moments of friendship’. We couldn’t agree more.
