At PlumpJack we craft wines that honour the land and embrace tradition and innovation.
Created in 1995 and based on a mutual love and passion for wine, partners Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty, purchased the former Mount Eden property on the Oakville Crossroad, and set about crafting high-quality wines that honored the land with an inviting approachable style. The estate vineyard is nestled against the Vaca Mountain Range and comprises diverse soil types that allows the winery to cultivate and blend copious blocks creating wines of intriguing complexity. In 1997, during the growing epidemic of cork taint (TCA) they took the radical decision of producing their top wine ½ under screwcap and ½ under cork. Something that continues to this day.
In 2012, winemaker Aaron Miller joined the team carrying on the legacy of producing elegant wines that pay homage to the Oakville Estate Vineyard. Allocations are always tight, and these wines are very special treats should you be lucky enough to get your hands on a bottle.
