Nature is the main character, the star. She does so much, almost all by herself.

 

Plantamura has always been farmed organically since its inception in 1996.  They make just 3 wines, different interpretations of Primitivo from the distinctive area of Gioia del Colle.  Just 9ha in size, at an elevation of 360m with an annual production of a mere 50,000 bottles. The soil structure is calcareous with an unusual underlying aquifer that means irrigation is not required. The elevation ensures a significant diurnal temperature swing between hot days and cool nights. The resulting wines are bright, with great aromatic character. Mariangela and Vincenzo are assisted by their daughters (when home from their continued studies) Chiara and Alessia. This is a true garagista winery. Fabulous wines with a meal.
