Philip Togni is a legend, pure and simple.

 

Philip Togni has made wine in California for 60 vintages working at several high-profile wineries prior to striking out on his own. In 1975 he started his small 10ha estate winery on Spring Mountain, over 600m above the hustle and bustle of the Napa Valley below.. He cut his teeth in Bordeaux, and his now iconic Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon is made in the ‘Margaux-style’ with small proportions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot rounding out the final blend.  Even his ‘2nd wine’ Tanbark Hill, is produced in the style of a ‘Bordeaux 2nd wine.’ It’s an earlier drinking Cabernet suitable for restaurants while his flagship wine gently rests in fine wine cellars around the world.  If you can find a wine of his with at least 10 years of age, treasure it and open it with someone you love.
