This is a story … of an inspirational woman, of a land, of a family, of determination.
In 2010, Marco Cirese, grandson of Noelia Ricci, began working on a project to create a winery-within-a-winery. He identified the best 7 hectares of the Pandolfa vineyards located at a higher elevation (250m) with calcium-clay rich soils. He wanted to respect the land’s natural inclination and go back to the way farmers used to make Sangiovese in the Romagna region. He wanted to explore the subzone of Predappio within which the winery lies. And he wanted to create a project that would honour Noelia, who first believed in the land’s potential.
Noelia Ricci is a small ‘cru’. The vineyards are environmentally managed with full organic conversion being completed in 2021. Just 3 wines are produced; Godenza, a sophisticated, structured bottling from a single vineyard; il Sangiovese produced in the traditional fashion for the region from sandy slopes and Bro’, a stunning aromatic, mineral-driven white wine from the Trebbiano grape. As you may imagine, these are wines to enjoy with your friends and family while sharing a story or two.
