Could a cuvée made outside the constraints of the AOC, deliver a sense of place and enchanting textures as prolifically as the great climats of the Côte d’Or?
Nicolas-Jay Estate is the story of a three-decade friendship between Burgundian winemaker Jean-Nicolas Méo and music entrepreneur Jay Boberg. Jean-Nicolas was the architect and innovator behind the rise of Domaine Méo-Camuzet as one of the most sought after and collectible producers in the last 30 years. Jay Boberg’s visionary approach for his own craft would find him fostering and launching bands such as R.E.M, The Go-Go’s, Blink-182, Mary J. Blige and more. Together, they have crafted Nicolas-Jay Estate and have fundamentally answered their own question.
The winery sources fruit from vineyards that represent the breadth of geologic diversity and mesoclimates in the Willamette Valley. The vineyards are dry farmed, using organic and biodynamic techniques. Dramatic elevation gains and a diverse set of micro-climates are ideal for high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Each wine is made with the utmost attention to detail in their gravity-fed winery and in incredibly small quantities. These are truly sublime wines with an energy that can truly take your breath away. Extraordinary wines, for extraordinary occasions.
