Le Fonti is a small boutique winery located in one of the most prestigious villages in Chianti Classico.
Located hallway between Siena and Florence is the village of Panzano. Le Fonti’s estate of 15ha is a few steps below the centre of the village. (Panzano is considered to be the ‘Premier-Cru’ Chianti Classico village). The estate resembles a horseshoe-shape with the vineyards being completely replanted since 1994, selecting the correct rootstocks for the area and 450m elevation. Organically certified through ICEA organization, Vicky and her husband Guido take meticulous care of the estate. The vineyards are steep necessitating all aspects being done by hand including hand-harvesting into small bins. A cold soak for 2-3 days before the fermentation on their own indigenous yeasts, blending and aging in wooden barrels. The resulting wines are aromatic, with incredible savoury, salty elements and amazing value. Beautiful wines for a very casual setting.
