Even as a young child I remember hearing conversations about vines and wine, and I can recall those Octobers, when we went right from school to harvesting grapes.
Le Fraghe is owned by Matilde Poggi. Her first vintage in 1984 was when she was just 22. This small region, located on the shores of Lake Garda, is where she is from and where she feels most at home. Her love of the region, its majestic mountain Monte Baldo, the uniquely mediterranean climate of Lake Garda and the glacial beds carved out in remote times are what shape her wines.
Matilde farms 3 distinct vineyards, totalling 30ha. The vineyards have been certified organic since 2009. The main grapes are Corvina and Rondinella, and Matilde’s deft handling shows the refined, elegant, aromatic heights they can achieve. Matilde is a proud member, and former President of FIVI. (The Federation of Independent Winegrowers devoted to promoting and sustaining the quality and authenticity of independent wine growers). Like so many Italian wines, these are food-friendly and can be enjoyed throughout a meal with family and friends.
