Il Colle was established in 1972, just 4 years after Brunello di Montalcino DOC formally came into existence. Located in the traditional heart of Montalcino (a short drive north-east of the town), Il Colle is a small family estate with 8ha of vineyards. The resulting production is a mere 30,000 bottles annually. All of the vineyards are certified organic, and hand harvested, with natural yeasts, no temperature control, long maceration on the skins and no filtering in the winery. Caterina’s goal is to allow the vineyards to truly express themselves and the resulting wines are a tribute to the hillsides of Montalcino. The wines of Il Colle reflect the classic power and structure of Brunello. Beautiful wines made for aging and enjoying on those special occasions.
