Readers curious to experience Gigondas in its most unadorned and classic style will want to check out this iconic domain.
Antonio Galloni, February 2020.
This is a tiny, family owned domaine in the heart of Gigondas. Just 10ha in size (23 separate parcels) owned by Stephanie Fumoso who is also joined by her son, Paul. Grenache is at the heart and centre of their vineyards (85% planted to the variety). The family has always believed that minimal intervention in both the vineyards and the cellar is key to preserving the essential character of the wines. Vineyards are farmed organically, and minimal sulphur is used in the cellar. Fermentation takes place in 6 concrete tanks, the wines are produced from grapes that are not destemmed, an approach that is traditional and essential to providing the classic character of Gigondas. The wines are vegan-friendly and full-bodied. These are thoughtful wines of which we get tiny quantities each year. Open them for those special evenings, perhaps by a roaring open fire.
