Dutton-Goldfield winery began in 1998 with a handshake in a vineyard between long time friends Steve Dutton and Dan Goldfield. Steve and Dan’s complete collection of vineyards are in the Russian River valley and along the Northern California coastline. In this area it is the interplay between the cold marine air coming off the Pacific, the coastal hills, the proximity to the ocean, the elevations of the vineyards with respect to the marine layer and the aspect of the sun and prevailing winds that all contribute to the ‘terroir’ of the individual sites. The huge array of vineyards, the ‘Dutton Ranch’ being the base of the business, and the meticulous way that Steve and Dan understand each block and the care and attention that goes with it allows them to produce stunning wines, that are competitively priced. With some friends match these wines up with some inspired dishes.
