A tiny, family owned, traditional winery of exceptional quality.
Domaine du Cerberon is in the heart of the village of Meursault. Established in 1929, this is a tiny family estate that has been passed down from great-grandmother to daughter … Francoise Nicvert and her family own just 3ha of exceptional vineyard sites in Meursault, Volnay and Pommard, producing no more than 15,000 bottles per year. Francoise is the winemaker, assisted by her husband and cousins. The cellar is small, cramped dating back to the 13th century. This is one of the most compact cellars we have ever visited, with every step of harvest to production and bottling being done by the owners’ hands. Francoise is charming and it is a delight to spend a couple of hours tasting with her in the cellar. These are fine wines, available in miniscule quantities. For Burgundy afficionados, you should grab a case or two when the opportunity arises and treasure them with someone special. By Burgundian standards, they are relatively affordable, most likely because they are so small and have gone under everyone’s radar.
