Above all, we prize the freshness of a blended wine, exuding power and structure, yet soft and subtle around the edges.
Olav Goelet, grandson of founders John & Henrietta Goelet, continues the family legacy of crafting French styled wines with a focus on cabernet sauvignon. Hand-harvested and hand-sorted, fruit is treated with the utmost care. The focus on blending (a nod to their Bordeaux roots) is an integral part of a Clos du Val wine. It allows winemaker Carmel Greenberg to identify and isolate small bathces of fruit at different stages of the vinification process for the assemblage of the perfect blend. Over the past 5 years, significant investments have been made in the cellars and vineyards. Perhaps the most important change is the renewed focus on Stag’s Leap District cabernets that first catapulted Clos du Val to fame, and a decision to concentrate exclusively on making estate-grown wines. Let your senses take you on a journey with these elegant wines.
