On a hill overlooking the village of Villié-Morgon in the Beaujolais region of France, the majestic Château Bellevue was built in the early 19th century, with a cellar added behind it in the 1830s. The 20th century saw several notable residents, including a son of the Lumière brothers, who invented the cinema, and Russian Princess Leiven, whose maiden name was Chateaubriand. Today the Château acts as an inn, where guests from around the world can enjoy the estate’s historical charm and, of course, its enchanting wines. In 2009, local winegrower/merchant Maison Jean Loron purchased the estate, establishing Bellevue as the ‘iconic’ flagship château for the Loron group.

Château Bellevue encompasses 21 hectares of vineyards in numerous Beaujolais Crus: Moulin à Vent (‘La Roche’), Morgon (‘Le Clos’, ‘Côtes du Py’ and ‘Les Charmes’), Fleurie and Brouilly. In the cellar, various sizes of oak, concrete vats and inox tanks are used for vinification; each vessel is chosen for the particular maceration of every parcel as they are brought into the cellar during harvest. In this model, Château Bellevue focuses its attention on the terroir of each climat, producing wines that reflect a unique sense of place and the diversity of Gamay Noir. The wines are Vegan-friendly.

With a history in the region dating back to 1711, Maison Jean Loron now manages 10 different estates: three in the Mâconnais region of Burgundy, and seven in Beaujolais. In 2016, the management of Jean Loron was passed down from Xavier Barbet, 8^th generation of the Loron family, to Phillipe Bardet, originally from Beaujolais himself and an avid connoisseur and advocate of the region. The company owns 350 hectares of estate vineyards, and purchases additional fruit from top growers for the value-driven Maison Jean Loron selection of wines.
