CHEHALEM, Chehalem Hills - Willamette

Founder Harry Peterson-Nedry was an early-adopter in 1980-82 when he planted Ridgecrest Vineyard in what would become Oregon’s Ribbon Ridge AVA (16 acres of Pinot Noir on the 29 acres property). The winery’s first release was in 1990. In 1995 Chehalem purchased the 40 acre Corral Creek Vineyard (24 acres planted, primarily 2 clones of Pinot Noir).

Bill Stoller became a partner in 1993, and in 1995 converted his family’s farm to vineyard – prior to establishing Stoller Family Winery in 2000. Together with Ridgecrest and Corral Creek, Stoller Vineyard is the source for the Chehalem wines. And when Harry Peterson-Nedry retired in 2018, Bill Stoller assumed full ownership of Chehalem.

No surprise, this is primarily at Pinot Noir house. An impressive range of single-vineyard and single-block Pinot Noirs is supplemented with one Chardonnay bottling, a Rosé, Trousseau Noir, Gruner Veltliner, Riesling, and a Chenin Blanc. Meliss Burr, the acclaimed, extremely talented winermaker at Stoller, now also directs the winemaking team at Chehalem.

The vineyards and winery are certified LIVE Sustainable, B Corp, and Salmon Safe.
