Purity. Finesse. Elegance.

These are the attributes that come to mind in tasting the wines and food produced by top, terroir-driven winemakers and farm-to-table chefs the world over. In thls spirit, we at Cave Spring and Inn on the Twenty are honoured to welcome La Guardiense, one of the top grower cooperatives, not just in Italy, but in all of Europe.

In the post-war years, Campania was a strikingly poor agricultural region, with growers often forced to sell their grapes at a loss. La Guardiense, located in the region of Sannio-Benevento in Campania, was established in 1960 to provide a reliable market for local growers. It began with 33 members who wanted to control their own fate, and today there are 1,000 members farming 1,500 hectares. By training the growers in quality-oriented viticulture focused on Campania's indigenous Falanghina and Aglianico grapes, the winery has emerged as one of the pre-eminent producers of these now internationally acclaimed varieties.

Join us as we welcome La Guardiense winemaker Marco Giulioli for a collegial showdown between Cave Spring Riesling and Cabernet Franc from the Beamsville Bench and La Guardiense Falanghina and Aglianico from Sannio – all paired with an Italian-inspired, locally sourced menu created by In on the Twenty chef Sheila Polingga.

As a bonus, take home rare, back-vintage selections of Cave Spring wines, as well as arranging home delivery of a selection of La Guardiense wines imported exclusively for this event.
