Coming soon... the redesigned R8 Cab.

Lush, energetic wines from Sonoma Valley.

Tin Barn was founded in 2000 by Toronto native Mike Lancaster on the outskirts of the town of Sonoma, bordering the Carneros appellation. After working briefly in Niagara, he attended UC Davis, graduating in 1993.  Mike’s first official winemaking role was with Gloria Ferrer in Sonoma, then Quail Ridge in Napa, where he became head winemaker until 1999.

Tin Barn’s first vintages were made in a leased space. An efficient, custom-designed winery was completed in 2005, providing an ideal facility for small-lot winemaking.  Patz & Hall, Three Sticks and Bedrock Wine Co are all in the same complex.  Single-vineyard wines — including Sauvignon Blanc, 2 Zinfandels, Pinot Noir, and a stunning Syrah (from a vineyard on Tin Barn Rd. on the Sonoma Coast) follow the winemaker’s philosophy for expressing the local character of Sonoma and Carneros sites.  Only the Cab combines the fruit of two exceptional vineyards:  Pickberry on Sonoma Mountain and Arrowhead in Sonoma Valley.  Total annual production is about 5,000 cases.

And while Tin Barn is his own project (with Toronto, UK and Swiss partners), Mike is in-demand as a consulting winemaker.  The design of the winery allows him to ‘custom crush’ for a handful of premium brands — you’d be surprised to learn some of the ‘cult wines’ made here under Mike’s respected mentorship.  Tin Barn also created the ‘R8 Wine Co.’ negociant brand, providing outstanding wines designed for restaurants at approachable prices.

2013 Sauvignon Blanc
'Hi-Vista Vineyard', Carneros

Retail: $32.95 / bottle (12 btls/cs)

The fruit for this 100% Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from Carneros. Partial barrel fermentation lends the wine its mouthfeel and a rich texture. A pronounced nose of citrus and melon is followed by notes of honey-drizzled lemon, orange and pear on the palate. The wine finishes clean with a mineral edge.

2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma

Retail: $39.95 / bottle (12 btls/cs)

An impressive, aromatic Cab from the mild Sonoma Valley. Striking clove and cherry flavours mingle amid a soft tannic structure, finishing with nuances of rich chocolate and toasty sweet oak. An herbal edge adds complextity and wonderful varietal character. Pair with roast lamb or a juicy steak.

Coming soon... R8 2013 Cab: a new look, a new wine.

We’re pretty excited about introducing you to the new vintage of R8 Cab, and we’re sure you’re going to love the new label as much as the new juice...

We’ve quietly been working on an exciting transition for this wine. Why mess with a good thing? Because we had the opportunity to make it even better. Over the past four vintages, R8 Cab has grown into one of our most popular wines. Winemaker Mike Lancaster had the opportunity to secure wine from some exceptional vineyard sources to take R8 to a whole new altitude.  The new, classier label reflects an even more impressive wine in the bottle – from Austin Powers to James Bond.

Stay tuned.
